Copyright notices and takedown requests

Reporting copyrighted material

Information to include

Include enough contact information for a reply, the location of the material, a good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorised, and a statement that the information in the notice is accurate.

Review process

A complete notice can be reviewed and the relevant material may be removed or restricted where appropriate. Incomplete notices can require follow-up before action is possible.

Counter-notices

If material was removed in error, the affected party may provide a counter-notice with the required identification and legal statements. The site may restore material where the applicable process permits it.

Good-faith requests

Do not use a copyright process to remove lawful criticism, facts, ideas or material you do not own. Misrepresentations can have legal consequences.
